Appearance    (1), pale yellow to brown liquid.

Solubility    soluble in water. soluble in ethanol.

Stability    stable. Easily oxidized.

Risk    Liquid form: flammable material; irritation, irritation to skin, eye. Harmful products of combustion are CO, CO2 and so on. Contact with strong oxidants, can cause to burn.

GHS (Rev.10) label:

Ecology    may be hazardous to environment. Water body should be given special attention.

Biodegradability    biodegradable.

Characteristics    excellent cleansing, emulsifying, dispersing, solubilizing, lubricating, foaming, anticorrosive, antirust abilities. Certain resistant to hard water.

Note    (1), Should not be used in children products that can be direct prolonged contact with the skin, such as skin care products.

(2), Avoid using in children cleaning products, such as shampoos.

(3), Do not use in nitrosating environment. Reaction of triethanolamine and nitrous acid can not produce nitrosamines, however, reaction of contained secondary amine of triethanolamine and nitrous acid can produce nitrosamines. Nitrosamine is a carcinogen.

Synthesis

Oleic acid reacts with triethanolamine, then obtain.
