Properties

Appearance    (1), white to pale yellow powder or crystal; (2), liquid.

Solubility    soluble in water.

Stability    stable.

Risk    Solid form: flammable material; irritation, moderate irritation to skin, eye, respiratory. Harmful products of combustion are CO, CO2 and so on. Contact with strong oxidants, can cause to burn.

Characteristics    excellent cleansing, emulsifying, foaming, wetting, permeating, dispersing, solubilizing abilities.

Synthesis

Sulfoxidation method is the typical method for preparing linear alkyl sulfonate.

C13-17 alkane reacts with sulfur dioxide and oxygen, then refine and obtain finished product.
